"HOW MUCH IS WORTH A VOLUNTEER?"

Since 1985, the United Nations Organization (UN) established on 5 December as International Volunteer Day, taking as its main objective the encouragement of voluntary actions in all spheres of society. In 2009, the Council of Ministers of the European Union officially declared the year 2011 as the "European Year of the volunteer activities that promote active citizenship."
ProSénior - Senior University of Paços de Ferreira is a project that exist by the gracious, generous and voluntary work from a teachers team who contribute to keep alive the flame of knowledge from seniors over 50 years old.

So, and because we would not exist without the volunteers, ProSénior decided, on the day we celebrate volunteering, to give a tribute to those who maketehe senior university possible – Our teachers!
The event, held in the Municipal Library, began with the welcome note from Alderman culture, António Coelho, and Profisousas Executive Director, Paulo Dinis, later followed by a conversation between ProSéniors coordinator, Jorge Oliveira, and Lourdes Bastos, who during his life, willingly collaborated in different activities and lived in close with many volunteer contributors, while leader of the Social Work “Silvia Cardoso”. In this talk, our guest elucidated the audience on the role of voluntary and on their value in society, giving the idea that if everyone gives a little bit of themselves, can help make other people happy...

The tribute continued with the delivery of a symbolic souvenir and a letter to every volunteer, which answers the rhetorical question "How much is worth a volunteer?" by a simple: "- has an immeasurable value!"
This was followed by two cultural moments, with a group of Contemporary Dance, organized by a volunteer teacher of Dance and Body Expression, Bibiana Figueiredo, and Freamunde Vocal Ensemble, directed by Silvio Cortez, who is also a group built on the basis of volunteering, has kindly accepted ProSéniors request to join us in the so-deserved honor.

Thank you volunteers!
